Travel Tips

Unexpected surprises on the highway can turn a daily commute or a family vacation into a headache. Situations are sometimes unavoidable, but these common sense tips may save you time and make your trip more pleasurable.

Before You Go

Keep your vehicle properly maintained at all times.
Check tire inflation pressure.
Check lights and windshield wipers.
Check fuel and fluid levels.
Clean windows, headlights and taillights  (especially during snow and icy conditions).

Inclement Weather

Turn on low-beam headlights so others can see you.
(A good rule of thumb is,  when your windshield wipers are on your headlights should be on).
Leave a longer distance between you and the vehicle ahead in case you must stop suddenly.
Slow down and drive at a speed the conditions warrant.
Keep your windows clear.
If your vision is impaired because of snow, ice or fog, pull off the highway at the nearest rest area or exit and wait for the conditions to improve. Only in an extreme emergency should you stop on the shoulder of the highway.

Safety Reminder

Drive defensively
Be patient and courteous.
Wear seat belts.
Never drive when you are sleepy (it's better to arrive late than not at all).

And remember... Safety is no Accident !!

Thank you for helping to make our highways safe for all drivers !!
